What is querelle de brest?

Querelle de Brest is a French novel written by Jean Genet, published in 1947. The title translates to "Quarrel in Brest" and it tells the story of a sailor named Georges who arrives in the port city of Brest and becomes embroiled in a series of misadventures, including a murder and a love affair with his own brother. The novel is known for its sexually explicit content and controversial themes of homosexuality, incest and sadomasochism.
